Hi Friend!

It's been quite a summer, and Tamar and I cannot believe our book, Sobriety for Dummies, is just around the corner from publication. Have you grabbed your copy?

We have shown up week after week and tried our best to promote wellness and recovery in all areas of our lives; it's not always easy. I have to say, I often forget that not everyone lives like this, HAPPY! One of the greatest gifts of recovery is being present and aware of what is going on within my surroundings and with those around me. This summer was incredibly challenging for my son, who is just about fifteen. Do you remember being fourteen? I do; I had started drinking and having sex. My parents were absent from my life and I was pretty much on my own—nothing like how my son is being raised. His emotional vulnerability and insecurities of trying to discover himself are so present in all our lives. It's been one big, awkward summertime mess, but I'm here for it!

Being in recovery allows me to feel. Yesterday, Tamar and I were recording our upcoming podcast, You're Sober Now What, and she said, I get all the FEELS! Yes, being sober is about feeling all of it, which is incredible.

My question to you today is: What are you NOT feeling? What are you afraid to feel? What are you pushing down, way down deep? What is holding you back from living your best SOBER AF life?

In Sobriety for Dummies, we write a lot about how to sustain happiness on the journey of living in long-term recovery; it's not for the faint at heart. Those of us who have traveled for five years, fifteen, and then past the twenty-year mark know that there can be different currents of uncertainty, dissatisfaction, and even depths of loneliness, and we move about life without drinking and becoming a victim of the mental illness, alcoholism. It's this wisdom that I personally search for from other wise women and a few men who have walked before me, who are 30+ years into this life journey.

I hope you will grab our book and share it with friends. Recovery is a lifelong journey not to be done alone, and I'm so grateful that you or someone you know is on the journey with me.

I'll be back next week.

Big hugs.

Lane
