Guess who got Married?!
A Toast to Tamar and New Beginnings
Hello Friend!
I have the brightest news to share today—your dear friend and my cohost, Tamar, is getting married! 🌟 Tamar came out late in life and found the partner of her dreams; we've talked about that on the show. She is about to embark on this beautiful journey of marriage. And guess what? I have the incredible honor of officiating her wedding here in Canada. Moments like these make me realize what a gift sobriety truly is.
Being Present in Life's Extraordinary Moments
Living sober for this long has granted me the opportunity to be fully present and witness the extraordinary facets of life. Marrying your BFF is one of those bucket list moments that you don’t quite comprehend until the night before, when you’re rehearsing your heartfelt words, making sure you say just the right thing in front of all their guests. Trust me, the emotions are real, and they are beautiful.
ALWAYS TWO DRINKS!
Love is a Journey: Watching Tamar Blossom
Marriage isn't always a walk in the park, but watching Tamar fall in love has been an absolute gift. There have been so many moments of naivety, spontaneity, and curiosity. Seeing her grow in love and take brave steps into this new chapter has been nothing short of amazing. As someone in long-term recovery who has experienced being single, dating, and now married for almost two decades, I often throw up my hands and say, "This is not what I signed up for!"
Borrowed Time and Divine Timing
I didn't sign up for being sober and alive this long. Some days, it feels like borrowed time. I was once a fall-down, sloppy, drive-drunk kind of woman, and now I'm here, married with a child, loving what I do and the people I share my life with. How does this transformation happen? Slowly, patiently, and in pure divine time.
Luck and Discipline: The Keys to a Fulfilled Life
I am incredibly lucky to live the life I have and to share it with people who step in and say hello—some for a day, others for years. I have a feeling Tamar will be part of my life for years to come, and I’ll watch her grow old in marriage, life, and sobriety. How cool and lucky is that?
Marriage is hard. But so are friendships, jobs, and even going to the gym. What I know today is that discipline is a foundational tool I have to lift every day. Without it, my marriage, my job, my attitude, relationships, and everything else could go to hell. Sobriety has taught me that showing up is only part of it. Trusting the process, believing, and taking action are integrated and necessary steps.
